How to Use / Application
How do you activate TAG face paint?
TAG face paints are water-activated. Simply dampen a brush or sponge with a small amount of water, apply it to the surface of the paint, and build up colour on the skin. A fine mist atomiser can also be used to keep the paint moist during application. For step-by-step guidance, visit our Tutorials page here.
What brushes and sponges work best with TAG face paints?
TAG Body Art stocks a full range of brushes and sponges specifically suited to face painting, including the premium TAG Aureum Brush range. Round and flat brushes are ideal for detail work, while sponges are great for base coats and blending. Browse the full range in our Brushes & Sponges category.
How do you use a 1 Stroke Split Cake?
To use a 1 Stroke Split Cake, dampen a flat brush with water and load it across all the colours in the cake in a single stroke. When applied to skin, the brush delivers a seamless multi-colour effect in one pass. This technique is ideal for quick designs like rainbows, butterfly wings, and tiger stripes. Video tutorials are available here.
How do you apply a glitter tattoo using TAG stencils?
To apply a glitter tattoo, place a TAG glitter tattoo stencil on the skin and apply cosmetic glue within the stencil. Once the glue becomes tacky, pour or brush TAG cosmetic glitter over the stencil, press gently, then lift the stencil away to reveal the design. You can view tutorials here.
How do you use cosmetic glue for glitter tattoos?
TAG uses Pros-Aide cosmetic glue for glitter tattoo application. Apply a thin layer of glue within the stencil outline on clean, dry skin. Wait until the glue turns from white to clear and becomes tacky — then apply your glitter. You can view the product safety data sheet here.
How long does TAG face paint last on the skin?
This can depend a little on skin type and the weather but you can expect the face paint to last between 6-8 hours. After this time you will start to notice the paint looking dry and cracked. We reccomend removing at this point to avoid any irritation.
Removal & Aftercare
How do you remove TAG face paint?
TAG Body Art paints are highly pigmented. They are water activated and wax-based, meaning they can be more resistant to just water but still remove easily with the right method.
Removing face paint properly helps keep skin healthy and stain-free. Follow these steps for an easy and effective removal process:
What You’ll Need:
✔ Mild liquid soap
✔ Soft makeup pads or wash cloth
✔ Warm water
✔ Micellar water (for stubborn stains)
✔ Clean towel
✔ Moisturizer
Step-by-Step Removal Guide
1.Start with a dry, soft makeup pad - Apply a small amount of mild
liquid soap directly onto the pad.
2. Using the soapy pad, massage the painted area in gentle
circular motions. This will begin breaking down the face paint.
3. Take a clean makeup pad dampened with warm water and wipe away
the lathered paint. Repeat with fresh pads as needed until the face paint is
removed.
4. For Stubborn Stains, Use a Second Agent . Certain Dark Colours – like Turquoise, Dark Blue, Pearl Purple and
Fuchsia tones may leave light stains. If this happens👇
Soak a cotton pad in Micellar Water. Hold it on any stained areas
for a few seconds, then wipe gently. This product breaks down the paint by binding to the pigment
molecules, lifting them from the skin without harsh scrubbing.
5. Rinse Again & Dry the Skin - Use warm water to rinse off
any remaining product. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel.
6. Apply a gentle moisturizer to restore hydration and soothe the
skin after cleansing. This helps prevent dryness, especially in sensitive
areas.
How do you remove glitter tattoos?
Glitter tattoos can be removed using baby oil or coconut oil. Apply generously to the tattooed area, leave for a minute, then gently rub with a cloth or cotton pad. The oil breaks down the cosmetic glue, allowing the glitter to lift off cleanly. Avoid scrubbing, as this can spread the glitter.

Can TAG face paint be used around the eyes and lips?
TAG face paints are considered cosmetic grade and generally safe for around the mouth area and eyes in small amounts. We recommend a patch test if you are concerned.
Is TAG glitter cosmetic grade and safe for skin?
Yes, TAG Body Art offers both cosmetic glitter and biodegradable glitter, both of which are cosmetic-grade and safe for skin application. Craft glitter is not the same and should never be used on skin.
What is the difference between cosmetic glitter and craft glitter?
Cosmetic glitter is specifically manufactured to be safe for use on skin. It is made from rounded, fine particles that won't scratch or irritate. Craft glitter, by contrast, is not regulated for skin safety and can have sharp edges that may cause injury or irritation. TAG Body Art only sells cosmetic-grade and biodegradable glitters, both of which are suitable for body art use.
